Judith Evill units to relaunch on February 10

In 2018, Community Gateway purchased the Judith Evill units in Kempsey to provide affordable housing for ageing people and those with a disability, as well as their families and carers.

After listening to the needs of our community, we have successfully rejuvenated the units and will be unveiling their new identity at a launch event on February 10th, 2021.


Community Gateway CEO, Craig Thomson says, “We are excited to be unveiling the new-look units to the community. The respite unit received significant building work to ensure it was fully accessible to a diverse range of clients. This included bathroom modifications and the joining of two units to make one large 3 bedroom unit. While we faced a few challenges with the refurbishment as a result of Covid-19 last year, we feel that now is the perfect time to make the units available for use.”


Importantly, the occupants of the surrounding units are pleased that the refurbished respite unit is available for people to “get well”. We are excited to welcome the residents along with local indigenous elders, local government members, other disability service providers, youth and community organisations and hospital discharge planners to the launch event.
